Bentley's 3rd Birthday!

Bentley celebrated his 3rd Birthday at the Hillman Family Reunion.  We had cupcakes at the reunion and waited to come home to open the presents.
When we got home, I made a Lightning McQueen cake and celebrated in true 3 year old style.  We went to the patio and opened presents while we ate cake and ice cream.
Ka-chow!

Happy Birthday, dear Bentley! Happy Birthday to you!
When you say dig in, he takes that literally!
He got a tool bench and some tools to go with it!

Grandma and grandpa got him a Pez dispenser and they also paid for his swimming lessons.
What a happy 3 year old!  So glad that he came into our lives, because it might get dull without him!  Love you Bentley!

Nothing like a little Hometown Celebration!

They started something new this year, called the Children's Parade.  The children decorate their bikes and ride from the "Malad Drive-In" to the City Park.  Bentley was almost 3, but he wanted to ride his bike so badly!  We finally decorated and gave in.  I didn't know if he was big enough to ride that far, but when we got to the park, I said, "Bentley, you did it!  Was that fun?"  He said, "Yeah mom, I wanna do it again!!"  He must have more energy that me!
Cheese!

That's right...I'm just riding away!

Waiting for them to say go at the Children's Races (in the park).  He got second place!  He is a "fast boy!"
Uncle Layne went with him to collect his 50 cent piece and to get his name in the paper!  Way to go buddy!

Backyard Firepit

We have enjoyed having a house and yard to share with everyone we know.  We also love that we have enough space to have our own little parties.  A while ago, I got Miles a little portable fire pit.  Before the fire season got horribly awful, we had a little backyard fire.  We roasted hot dogs and cooked smores!  Here's Bentley enjoying the first smore of his life!

Bentley-isms

Bentley is such a funny kid.  I have to keep a journal of his daily sayings.  One day, I was sitting at the computer and Bentley brings me about 7 hot wheels.  He says, "Mom, put this in my pocket" and I informed him that he didn't have a pocket (besides the one in his onesie).  He comes in very excited a few minutes later with nothing in his hands and says, "Look Mom, I have pocket, I have pocket".  He pulls out the collar of his onesie and has stored all of his cars in his onesie!
Just a few shots of his hiding place....

This boy is too funny!

The Lorax

Bentley went to see "The Lorax" in theaters with Hayli, Paige, and Tucker.  He loved it, and we didn't have to leave the theater once!  It is a book that we read at least once a day, so when the movie came out we just had to see it!

A Day Out With Thomas

Bentley is still in love with trains, and Thomas is no exception.  He loves to watch and play with Thomas the train, so when I heard about the Day Out With Thomas on the Heber Valley Railroad, I knew we had to get tickets.

After we took our picture with Thomas, then you get to board the train and ride Thomas for 25 minutes.  (We pretended that it was Annie and Clarabelle that we rode in.)

Perfect window seat.  There wasn't a seat in front of us, so Bentley could stand and look out the window for the whole ride.  He loved it!  He kept saying, "I ridin Thomas!"
Just a cute picture!

Hogle Zoo

For spring break this year, Miles and I had some time off together.  So we went to Hogle Zoo and used our passes at Lagoon to enjoy the break together!  It was a little chilly, but Bentley loved the zoo.

Disney On Ice: Toy Story 3

Alicia scored front row seats for Disney's Toy Story 3 on Ice.  It was absolutely awesome!  It seems like everything Disney does is impressive!

A 28-Mile Snowmobile Ride

I've always been a fan of snow and the outdoor activities that accompany the snow.  So when Alicia invited us to go on a snowmobiling adventure, I quickly accepted!  We got suited up in snow gear including helmets (which Bentley didn't love) and headed for the hills.  There were only a few problems with the adventure.  The first being that we woke up to a crazy snowstorm/blizzard.  The second being the part where Alicia didn't inform me that the ride was 28 miles in, eat at the Box Y Lodge,  and then the same 28 miles back out.  Which turned out to be an incredibly long and uncomfortable ride for a 2 year old who hated his helmet.  I'm a pretty slow rider, because I don't have much experience in driving snowmobiles.

For a good majority of the ride, I was behind the group by 5-10 minutes.  Usually, I would find someone stopped on the trail to make sure that I was still coming.  So it was no surprise around mile 13 when all the sleds were pulled off to the sides of the road.  I thought they were just waiting for me again....Then, I see Trav's little girl sleeping in the snowbank.
Then I notice that there is a larger problem.  Alicia's daughter, who was riding with Trav's daughter, is not on her snowmobile.  Alicia is asking her if anything is hurt, and she seems to be pretty concerned about the snowmobile.  It all makes sense when I see the boys off the road, trying to start a snowmobile that no longer has a windshield.  Montana had gone off the groomed trail, fallen off, and the snowmobile drove between two trees.  Scary start to ride 13 more miles in, before we start heading back out.
However, the rest of the ride was enjoyable.  We enjoyed a great meal at the Box Y Lodge and let the kids run around helmet free for a while.  Then it was back on the sleds.  While the boys stopped frequently to test out the powder, I just drove slow and steady.  Blowing snow and whiteout conditions made for a turtle's speed, but we surely enjoyed ourselves!  Alicia and Trav thanks for the invite, it was a blast!

Layne and Melissa move to Arizona :(

Layne and Melissa finally decided that the don't enjoy cold weather anymore.  Layne had a wonderful opportunity to transfer with his company to Sunny Arizona!  They gladly accepted, and we had a farewell dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  Sad that they are leaving us, but so happy for this new adventure!
The whole family (except Miles)
We surely miss you guys!

Super Bowl Party

Miles's family always has a superbowl party.  Everyone brings their own finger food and we all share during the big game.  This year was no exception; however, most of the time the foods are not sugary or sweet.  So this year, I stepped out of the box and made sugar cookies like the helmets of the teams playing.  New York Giants and New England Patriots....and the Giants won!
Here we are eating delicious food and watching the game.
