Our garden continued....

I just thought I would update you on our garden. Last night we had to cover the tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. I think the beans were done producing, so I just let them go. But my fridge is completely full of tomatoes, peppers, carrots and strawberries (that we got a great deal on, so I'm going to freeze them). We picked about a dozen cobs of corn. I bottled 13 pints of beans, and we are working on relish. Then, I'll have to do something with the tomatoes! I've made 28 cups of jam (strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry). Thanks Melissa for picking the blackberries and raspberries, I got some coming for you!

You paid how much? To run how far?

We joke in my family that my older brother has brain damage. He decided a while back that he was going to run a marathon. He trained and trained and the day finally came. Bentley and I went with my parents to cheer as he crossed the finish line in the "Top of Utah Marathon". Here are some pics! Way to go Layne! 26.2 miles is way more than I ever want to run!

This is only miles 17. he is "just chillin'" Seriously, you can feel good enough to raise your arm and give me five when you have been running for about 2 hours.

Everything hurts, but it was worth it! That is amazing! Can't tell you how proud I am.....I would have passed out on mile 3 I think!

My, how the time flies!

I'm late posting this but Bentley is two months old! ALREADY-- :o At his two month check up he was 13 lbs. 3 oz. and was 24 inches long. He has discovered his tongue and I often catch him sticking it out or sucking on it. He also has found his fist to suck on. He doesn't quite know how to just get one finger or his thumb in his mouth, so he just sucks on the whole thing. Silly boy! The doctor told Miles that he was pretty strong for his age, because he's been holding his head up since day 4 and his leg muscles are strong enough to keep him standing for about 3 minutes!

This is his new toy! He loves it!

He even sleeps for a good 6 hours at night!

The Harvest

Earlier in the year, I posted that we had planted a garden. We decided to give it a try, and apparently we have a little bit of the green thumb. We have tomatoes growing like crazy....more beans than I can bottle up....peppers, onions, corn, cucumbers, and even potatoes. We also got a few strawberries.

Our tomato plants grew so much, we had to cut off parts of the vine to make the fruit grow.

The beans are growing out of the boxes.

Those are lettuce towers, not just leaves.

The corn is finally starting to get cobs...so I think we might have some corn on the cob! :)

This is my first attempt at potatoes. (I know, I'm from Idaho and it should be easy, but I've never done it alone.) So, they are starting to bloom, which means there must be something going on under ground.
